The Headteacher at Uffculme School in Moseley contacted us with a request that we undertake a free, no-obligation site visit in order to assess their outdoor play area and to come up with ideas and suggestions as to how it could be transformed into something which was more engaging, stimulating and physically challenging for the children to use during break times. In particular the headteacher wanted the children to be able to safely run around, climb, balance on things and role play.
Following our initial site visit we discussed our ideas with the management team at Uffculme School to ensure that our plan would give them the range of facilities they wanted but at the same time would remain within their budget for the project.
To help them achieve their vision we built and installed a selection of low-level custom-made agility trail equipment which included a small rock wall/net climb, a clatter bridge, balance beams, a rope walk and a wigwam. The play area was finished off using black EPDM wet pour safety surface.
All of the equipment supplied to Uffculme School was constructed using only the best Scandinavian 5ths kiln dried redwood, with radius corners to prevent splinter hazards, and pressure treated with Tanalith® E, giving a 15 year guarantee against fungal decay and insect attack. Steel reinforced ropes were used throughout, manufactured from multi-filament polypropylene rope with hydraulically pressed stainless steel terminals and net joints. These help to ensure optimum safety, durability and appearance. They are also vandal resistant.
