Initially we were contacted by GilbertstonePrimary School because they had purchased a large camouflage canvass to be used in their ForestSchool but did not have a suitable structure to support it with. Once we had obtained the approximate dimensions of the canvass we designed, manufactured and installed for them a unique, custom-made octagonal framework spanning approx. 7m across.
Following on from this we were then asked if we could do something about a large multi-play activity tower which over time had become rotten in places and was unsafe, resulting in them having to cordon off the area. They asked us to remove the old rotted play unit – which had a velour carpet underneath – and in its place install something which was similar in design but constructed with new, more sturdy timbers and components and more suitable for the age of the children using it.
Following our initial design consultations with the Gilbertstone Primary School management team we built and installed a new Twin Tower multi-play activity unit featuring access steps, a rock wall, linked suspension bridge between the main towers, a fireman’s pole, a net climb and a high quality stainless steel slide. To complete the new play area we also installed two activity play shop panels and a high quality synthetic grass which included a CFH shock-pad cushioning system underneath.
All of the equipment was constructed using only the best Scandinavian 5ths kiln dried redwood, with radius corners to prevent splinter hazards, and pressure treated with Tanalith® E, giving a 15 year guarantee against fungal decay and insect attack. Steel reinforced ropes were used, manufactured from multi-filament polypropylene rope with hydraulically pressed stainless steel terminals and net joints. These help to ensure optimum safety, durability and appearance. They are also vandal resistant.
