Castle Vale Nursery School and Childrens Centre.
This was one of our renovation projects where Castle Vale Nursery School and Children’s Centre asked us to visit and offer suggestions as to how they could replace a small, open-sided timber shelter into something which was more user-friendly and offered the children a covered area where they could sit and chat, undertake role-play activities or simply have a shaded area out of the sun and shelter when the weather was not so good.
Following an initial site visit and discussions with the Headteacher we decided we could save Castle Vale Nursery School and Childrens Centre from having to spend money on new equipment when the existing equipment was in good condition but just needed a little attention from us.
We transformed the open-sided shelter into an enclosed timber lodge using half-height Tanatone (brown) treated shiplap panels with top edge cappings. To complete the lodge we built low-level double width benches which were then fixed to the internal walls (not shown in photos).
Finally, in order to create safety and privacy for the children when playing in the lodge we installed 1.8m(h) willow hurdle screening panels to all of the perimeter steel fencing using heavy-duty fixings. Members of the public are now unable to see directly into the Nursery garden and play areas when passing by.
If you have some timber play equipment which simply needs a little attention and a fresh breath of life, saving you money in the process, then contact Martell Play and Leisure today, your local supplier and installer.
